Call to Action: Detransitioners, Desisters, & Parents of ROGD Youth
Detransitioners, desisters, and parents of Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria youth: what would you like mental health professionals to know?
How have you been disappointed, coerced, betrayed, misunderstood, stigmatized, misled, or neglected in the push for “gender-affirming care?” What do you wish we had done instead?
Therapists have let you down big time, but many don’t know it yet. We have been so wrapped up in virtue signaling that we’ve overlooked the experiences, needs, and perspectives of a diverse range of people who are suffering. The longer this goes on, the more harm will result.
Please let me know if you would be interested in sharing your experiences and feedback on my upcoming podcast, You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist.
To reach me: leave a comment, follow & DM me on Twitter @sometherapist, or use my therapy website’s secure contact form. Please be sure to circulate this post to help it reach its intended audience. Thank you!
FYI: participating in my podcast, blog, or social media is voluntary, public, free, and unpaid. Podcast guests are not clients, and clients are not podcast guests. I am, however, available to work with these populations privately as clients in Oregon, which would preclude involvement in any of my public work.
Qualifications: I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Oregon with 8 years of diverse experience in the mental health field. Since 2020 I have been in private practice doing telehealth for adolescents, adults, and couples, and am currently aiming to gain professional experience helping detransitioners and parents of ROGD youth. I see the massive detransitioning crisis in the years to come. I want to get an early start learning how to serve this population and be ready to help other therapists in the next few years once they realize what’s going on. You can find information about my therapy practice here, or browse more of my blog to get a better sense of my work. To be clear, re-read the paragraph above: being a therapy client precludes podcast involvement and vice versa. Your willingness to speak on my podcast is appreciated in helping me, other therapists, and other listeners learn.
